私たちは三代にわたり
受け継がれてきた精神を礎に、
時代やジャンルにとらわれることなく
「骨董から現代アートまで」を扱う
ギャラリーです。
また美術品専門オークションハウスでの
経験を通じて培った審美眼と、
各地美術館への納品実績に
裏付けられた確かな目を生かし、
日々 作品と真摯に向き合っています。
アートは、難しいものであってほしくない。
限られた人だけのものでもない。
日常の中に自然と溶け込み、
ふとした瞬間に心を照らす存在であってほしい。

Rooted in a spirit passed down through three generations, our gallery presents works that transcend both time and genre—from antiques to contemporary art. Drawing on the discerning eye cultivated through our experience with fine art auction houses, as well as a proven track record of supplying works to museums across Japan, we engage sincerely with each piece, every day.
We believe art should not be difficult. Nor should it belong only to a select few. It should exist naturally within daily life—quietly enriching it, and illuminating the heart in unexpected moments.
“Art for everyday living. Art for a lifetime.” With this philosophy, we strive to be a place that connects people with art.
プロフィール
兼井 万生里Maori Kanei
鎌倉市雪ノ下で生まれ、インターナショナルスクールからサンタモニカカレッジへと進みました。海外で学ぶ中で、単なる飾りではない「空間の一部としてのアート」の力に魅了されたのが、私の原点です。
帰国後はオークションハウスという、美しさと厳格な市場価値が交差する世界で、数多くの美術品・工芸品と向き合いました。そこで培ったのは、流行に惑わされない「審美眼」と、お客様の求める本質を見極める「分析力」です。
2017年、鹿児島市にて創業し、2021年より「ギャラリー兼井」として活動。2023年に薩摩焼の里・日置市美山へ移転後も、アート界の一線で活躍する仲間たちと一緒に仕事をさせてもらっています。性格的に表舞台に立つのは少し照れくさく、妻には「もっと前へ」と苦笑いされることもありますが、裏方としてお客様の理想を叶える「参謀」でありたいと考えています。確かな実績であらゆるご相談にお応えすることを信条に、日々精進します。
Born in Yukinoshita, Kamakura, my journey began in an international environment, eventually leading me to Santa Monica College. Immersing myself in diverse cultures abroad, I became captivated by the transformative power of art—not merely as decoration, but as a vital element that defines and elevates a space. This realization remains the founding inspiration for my career.
Upon returning to Japan, I refined my expertise within the rigorous environment of an auction house. Navigating the intersection of aesthetic beauty and market value, I cultivated a discerning eye unswayed by fleeting trends, along with the analytical precision required to identify the true essence of an object’s worth.
In 2017, I established my gallery in Kagoshima City, rebranding as “Gallery Kanei” in 2021. Since relocating to the historic pottery village of Miyama, Hioki in 2023, I have continued to collaborate with esteemed colleagues at the forefront of the art world to deliver excellence to our clients.
My philosophy is rooted in being a “trusted strategist”—a dedicated advisor who works behind the scenes to realize each client’s unique ideals. Committed to integrity and a proven track record, I strive to provide expert guidance for every consultation, ensuring the lasting value of your collection.
兼井 眞規子Makiko Kanei
鹿児島生まれ、鹿児島育ち。東京学芸大学 教育学部心理学科卒。
幼い頃から、祖父の古美術店に並ぶ民芸品や骨董品、絵画や書に囲まれて育ち、店先の“たのかんさあ”の穏やかな笑顔によく心和ませていました。
父の白薩摩焼の里帰り仕入れに同行し、ヨーロッパのアンティーク店を巡った経験も楽しい記憶です。海を越え、人から人へと受け継がれてきた作品たちは、どれも“いい顔”をしていました。文化を手渡していく温かさと尊さを実感した旅でもありました。
大学では心理学を学びましたが、その学びは今も作家やお客様と向き合う日々の支えとなっています。銀座の画廊勤務を経て鹿児島へ戻り、現在はオーナーである夫と二人三脚でギャラリーを運営。三代目として、祖父や父から受け継いだ想いとともに、作品の物語を大切にしていく場所でありたいと願っています。一生もののアートとの出会いを、これからも丁寧に紡いでまいります。
Born and raised in Kagoshima, I graduated from Tokyo Gakugei University with a degree in Psychology. Growing up in my grandfather’s antique shop, I was surrounded by folk crafts, curios, paintings, and calligraphy. I still fondly remember finding peace in the gentle smiles of the Tanokansa (stone guardians of the rice fields) that stood at our storefront.
A formative memory for me was traveling across Europe with my father to source Satsuma ware—bringing these historic pieces back to their homeland. Visiting antique shops overseas, I encountered works that had been cherished and passed down through generations. Each piece had a “beautiful soul” and a face of its own. Those journeys taught me the profound warmth and significance of preserving and handing down culture.
While I specialized in Psychology at university, those studies remain a cornerstone of my daily life, helping me connect deeply with both artists and clients. After gaining professional experience at a gallery in Ginza, Tokyo, I returned to Kagoshima. Today, I co-manage Gallery Kanei alongside my husband, the owner.
As a third-generation successor to this legacy, I carry forward the vision of my grandfather and father. My mission is to ensure our gallery remains a place where the unique stories of each artwork are honored. I am dedicated to carefully weaving together the moments where people encounter the art that will stay with them for a lifetime.
歴史
戦後間もない頃、鹿児島市内の一角に小さな骨董店が生まれました。店先に並んでいたのは、祖父が心から惹かれたものたち。黒もんと呼ばれる素朴な薩摩焼。使い込まれた竹細工。石工さんに作ってもらった田の神様。土地に根を張り、暮らしの中で息づいてきた美をご紹介していました。
やがてその店は、民藝運動の先生方や愛好家も集う場所となります。
濱田庄司、棟方志功、秦秀雄先生らが足を運び、小さな空間で美について語り合う時間が重ねられていきました。
時代は移ろい場所は鹿児島市内から薩摩焼の里 歴史の香る美山へ。扱う作品の幅は、古美術にとどまらず、近代、そして現代アートへと広がっていきました。けれど、心惹かれたものを誠実に届けるという姿勢は、変わることなく受け継いでいます。
ただ、作品と人とが最高の出会いができる場所であり続けるために、これからも一歩ずつ先へと進んでまいります。
Shortly after the war, a small antique shop was born in a corner of Kagoshima City. Displayed at its entrance were the objects that our grandfather was deeply drawn to. Simple Satsuma ware known as Kuromon. Well-used bamboo crafts. Stone Tanokami deities carved by local stonemasons. We introduced forms of beauty rooted in the land and alive within everyday life.
In time, the shop became a gathering place for leaders and admirers of the Mingei movement. Shoji Hamada, Shiko Munakata, and Hideo Hata, among others, visited,and in that small space, conversations about beauty were shared again and again.
As the times changed, the gallery moved from Kagoshima City to Miyanoyama in Hiyoshi—Miyama, the historic home of Satsuma ware. The scope of works we handle expanded beyond antiques to include modern and contemporary art. Yet our commitment to sincerely presenting what moves us has remained unchanged, passed down through generations.
And in order to continue being a place where artworks and people can encounter one another in the best possible way, we will keep moving forward—one step at a time.
